How can you get in touch with Radio 92.9…the old WBOS?

If you’re not a WBOS VIP and you didn’t get their email yesterday with the announcement about the format change, you’re probably a little confused right about now.  Actually, I received the email, but I’m still confused. I wrote about it here. You can also read a short announcement in RadioInsight about it here.

If you try to go to the old site, you’re redirected to what I would consider a one page “ad.”  (Caveat: That’s at least for now…I’m sure a new site will be up soon, but it probably won’t be until it’s “safe.”)  Although my memory could be faulty, as I recall, this is what they did the last time they made a major format change.

On this new one page site, with the exception of the links to the TOS and the Privacy Statement, the only other link is opening up my Windows Media Player and playing a live stream, something that I would not have expected. There is no link on this page to communicate with the station.  So, if you didn’t receive the email announcement with link to a feedback form, you’re out of luck — at least for the moment.

This whole experience gives the impression that WBOS doesn’t actually want customer feedback.

What are they afraid of?

Got Thoughts?  Please share them here or in the previous post so that WBOS can know how you feel.

I hate the change, and I will be only listening to The River now.

  2. Calvin says:

I think the lack of contact info is simply an oversight. You can still call them on the “request line”.

  3. pamelawella says:

    Hi Calvin,
Thanks for your input. However, I’m quite sure that the lack of contact info is not an oversight.

I think the format change is a real shame. There were a number of things that made WBOS great that won’t translate well to the new format – old cuts from Live in the Studio, those nice guitar instrumentals, and the at-work listenability. I’ve been an internet listener for a long time (living outside New England) and feel like the change is just another shift to a corporate selection of wannabee music.

I’VE BEEN A FAITHFUL LISTENED FOR LONGER THAN I CARE TO ADMIT. MY ALARM CLOCK IS SET TO BOS IN THE AM AND THIS MORNING I WAS ASSAULTED BY THE WORST MUSIC I’VE EVER HEARD.
LOSE THE NEW FORMAT AND LEAVE IT TO SATELLITE RADIO. BRING BACK THE OLD WBOS. THE NEW ONE SUCKS. i HAVE NOTHING TO LISTEN TO AT WORK NOW.

  6. Maura says:

Although I find some of the new variety refreshing, it is not good for the workplace. I would listen to WBOS every day at my desk. The music was perfect and would get me through the day, with help from the many intelligent DJ’s. I will miss Dana, John, Dominic, etc… Sure, the commericals were annoying, but obviously necessary. It was my favorite station for years!

I don’t know why they had to change the station format so drastically. They could have added more variety. My guess is that they are trying to compete with Mike FM, 93.7. I think you lose a little something without the DJ’s.

My only advice…if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. I am a very disappointed WBOS listener, and I hope they change things back to the way they were very soon.

When I slouched into work on Saturday morning, tired, a little hungover, and completely appalled by the sight of my cubicle on a weekend, I was comforted only by the fact that I would turn on my computer and hear the soothing strains of WBOS as I listened live all the way from Virginia Beach. Instead, I was assaulted by horrendous, often tuneless rock with a handful of adult alternative tracks thrown in (maybe four songs in the four hours I listened). Was this an attempt to retain those faithful WBOS listeners who had tuned in every day for the unparalleled mix of old and new music they had come to rely on? It’s not working. I am now forced to search for another station I can listen to online that will give me the latest in up-and-coming and just-made-it-to-the-top artists who have consistently delivered the best music in the first part of the new century. I am lost…unless WBOS brings back the old format.

  8. tabl says:

please give me back my radio station! what happened is a shame, chalk it up to one more clear channel overtake and ruining a good thing…I am now a devoted River listener and have opened up the formerly 92.9 on my favorites to 90.9…

  9. Todd says:

    The NEW BOS really sucks……………

Where will I be able to discover new artists like:

James Morrison, Paolo Nutitni & Tim Blane?

    MySpace – here I come!

  10. Claude says:

When I moved here in 2004 WBOS became my favorite station very quickly. It played music that no one else played and the DJ’s were much better than those found elsewhere. If it wasn’t for ‘BOS I wouldn’t have been exposed to music like Jack Johnson, Snow Patrol, John Mayer and many others that just don’t play loud and agressive enough to be featured on any of the other “cookie cutter” stations. The new WBOS is now just another noise maker in an already crowded field. It’s a real shame. Hey Clearchannel – Get a clue!

  11. Teddy says:

I hate that this station is unorganized. The River is so much better and so is there website! you can’t find anything about this radio station, no contact info, nothing!

  12. hmattyj says:

I think the changes that have been made to WBOS are terrible. They obviously have a loop that they play, day in, and day out.
I used to bounce from the river, to BOS, but now I’m all River. The music selection BOSTONRADIO 92.9 has chosen is absolutley terrible. They’re saying they’ve gone alternative?? Listen… I’m no huge Nirvana fan, but I do know that the band did more than the album Nevermind…

A true shame. their only success has been wrecking the station. Plus… It took them a month to get the stream working on the inkanet….

    Junk. Thumbs down..

  13. Karen says:

Totally agree – I hate the new music and format. And, I used to absolutely LOVE it. I’m so disappointed!!

My brother just produced his first CD (Check out “Introducing Hardy” on CDBaby.com!), and I would have brought it to BOS, but not now. Big shame, truly. 92.5 doesn’t come in very well around here…wish they’d strengthen the signal now.

  14. deanna says:

I absolutely HATE what they’ve done to WBOS…and I searched forever trying to find SOMEWAY to tell them how much it sucks. There’s no way to voice your opinion to them! 92.9 was the one station I could always turn to for a song I could enjoy and now it’s TOTAL crap.

  15. rose says:

I love their new format!!!! Great music, except for Dave Matthews. Can’t stand his voice. The only thing is let us know who the artists are!!!!

  16. Jaz says:

It’s a shame — the last three times I heard an interesting song on 92.9 I tried to look it up on their playlist, only to find that it’s missing. And trying to call the studio to ask has always been futile.
